Tonacatecutlius Gibsoni : A new genus named after Dave Gibson Some of the amber which David Gibson collected soon interested scientists at the British museum. David supplied some specimens of Mexican amber to Andrew Ross. After studying the specimens he stated that "three of the pieces contain very rare insects which I consider are probably new species. Two pieces contain fulgoroid bugs... The other piece contains many insects including a scuttle fly".
Andrew Ross purchased the pieces from David in September 1999. Later the new genus was named after David Gibson(Tonacatecutlius gibsoni). Since then he has supplied the British Museum with other pieces.Other researchers have also bought pieces.
A definition of Tonacatecutlius Gibsoni has been written by Szwedo and Stroinski 1999 which has been published in scientific journals. Here is a copy of the document.
